The check engine light is one pesky warning light that can come on for something as simple as a loose gas cap or for something as significant as a major engine malfunction. The problem? We don’t know which one it is until we take our car in to have the light checked out. So many people have taken to placing stickers over the light to ignore the fact that it is constantly on. If the light is on, it’s likely that there is a problem, even if it is simply a problem with the light itself. While Jesus tells us not to worry, it doesn’t mean we stick tape over the light, or brush things under the rug. It does mean that we trust in God’s ability to provide for us in good times and bad, when trouble strikes and when we are triumphant.
